Log Cabin on a Tin Shed

As a quilter I feel I have a duty to try certain techniques and designs.
Log Cabin had been on that list for some time, so a few years ago l made this quilt.   It's been in the chest since then, waiting for its binding.
An afternoon's work and voila - I ask myself why I waited so long.

Circles in Circles in Circles

Hand appliquéd circles, hand quilted circles.

This quilt has been a long time in the making.

But worth the effort.

Monday Night Maddness

Monday night is the night my sewing group meet.
I love it.
It's fun, inspiring and great company.

Tonight I trialed cathedral window.
It is a slow process, but great.  I like having a hand project on the go.
So.........
My plan is to make a quilt for our bed in grey with red windows.

Pretty - Pretty cool that I've finished another quilt

I had forgotten about so many quilts that are hiding in my chest unfinished.   Some I like, some I am over.  Nevertheless I will finish them.
This was a kit my friend ordered from Australia

She kindly gave it to me some years ago.

I had a lot of fun putting the top together and into the chest it went.

Until the weekend.  Quilted bound and looking pretty.

Another One Finished

I had forgotten about this quilt.
Found at the bottom of my treasure chest, just waiting for the binding.

It's the fourth one I've made.
Sold 2 and gave one to a friend for her birthday.

I chose to do a facing style binding.  Tutorial coming soon.

Block of the Month

As I mentioned last week, it was my turn to  be the Queen Bee and choose the block our group would sew this month.

I decided that I would not buy any fabric and would use my scraps.

The scrap bin, which is really big, was overflowing.

The quilt I chose is from Sunday Morning Quilts.

The first job was to sort the scraps into colours and give a bag to each of the worker bees.

Well, they have been busy.  Beautiful little blocks are coming back.
Purple and yellow are still to come and I'm thinking I should do a few black ones and maybe some grey?
What do you think?

Cushion Swap

For the end of the year our sewing group always makes something to swap at our last gathering before Christmas.
This year it was cushions.

That's the Sheila Shed in the Background.

My contribution to the swap

They were all fantastic.
I recieved the black and white one with bright coloured buttons.
Love it.

The Taste of Summer

I am lucky enough to have inherited my mother's recipe book.

And her mother's recipe book.

Choose a recipe from childhood.

Spend a couple of hours in the wild.

And before you know, a glass of heaven.

Growing Family

Families just keep growing and growing.
The latest addition to our family is little Jessie G.  a beautiful little Granddaughter for my Cousin.
So naturally a quilt was created.
