Monday Night Madness #7

Well, not so much madness tonight, more like I was pretty mad as my beautiful Bernina #2 would only sew backwards.   A bit of fiddling and it would only sew in one spot!
Brain wave...... try a fancy stitch.... oops forgot I had the quarter inch foot on, so broke my needle.  Did I have a spare? No.

Moving on, let's have a look at what the other mad Monday nighters were doing.

One broken needle.

Mad AW working on control panels for Mad D's Robot bloke of the month quilt.

Mad AM working on her first quilt.

Mad K working on knitted slippers.

Mad L working on D's robots.

Mad J knitting a baby cardigan.

Mad S plugging away with her quilting.

Mad D working on her robots
Back to Mad AW, control panel finished.  She started and nearly finished this amazing tea cosy.
Check her out on the link below.

Prepped ready to go.

American Beauty #2

This quilt is taking longer than expected.
I thought it didn't need too much quilting.
Turns out I can't help myself and it just needs a bit more here and there.
And I have a little helper or should I say,  holder upper.

Garage Sale

My new curtains might be made sooner than expected.
Today my girlfriend talked me into going garage sales.
Such fun.
Heaps of scarves and other treasure.
I love the bird picture as is.
The renoir is lovely, but I'm thinking my talented daughter may paint me something for my birthday.

Thrifting

For a while now, I have thought it would be cool to make curtains out of scarves for the Sheila Shed.
Well this week I have been visiting op shops and collecting scarves.

Wednesday Wenches #2

More of the same tonight.
Another 12 blocks ironed.
I'm getting faster 1.5 hrs.
New calculations - 33 hrs of ironing left.
No burnt fingers tonight.

Wench S is making a fine job of the quilting on this gorgeous quilt for her daughter.

No show from Wench A tonight.

Monday Night Madness #5

I ordered 20 yards of fabric from Hawthorne Fabrics to make a Cathedral Window quilt.
I was excited to receive the package,  but daunted when I opened it.
I now have to cut it into 288 × 9 3/4 in squares and iron them into those special squares ready to put the windows in.

In preparation for sewing group I cut 40 squares to iron tonight. No problem!

Well 2 hours - burnt fingers - 12 squares ironed.

My calculations 48 of ironing.

This IS a long term project.

American Beauty

This quilt hasn't been sitting around unfinished for as long as some others, but I had everything on hand to finish it.
The job's not done yet, the plan is to have it completed by the end of the week.

Wednesday Wenches

Wednesday evenings are now spent with a couple of long time friends who are new to the world of quilting.
A very satisfying time in the shed tonight.
The last of the block of the month blocks that I will make.
These ones are bigger than the ones we have been making.
Two very kind friends are making the last few blocks, then it's assembly time.
The light was not good for photography and hasn't given the fabric the justice they deserve.
These overalls for my husbands work have been patiently waiting
for new zips.   Tonight was their night. All mended, nicely folded
and ready for work tomorrow.
